The Evergreen State College reports 13% increase in spring enrollment

The Evergreen State College in Olympia reported that its preliminary data showed a 13% year-over-year increase in spring 2025 enrollment.

The data marks the third consecutive year of the college’s spring enrollment growth, including improvement in figures of the first-generation undergraduate students, said Communications Liaison Mason Hadley in a news release sent to The JOLT News.

“Our spring enrollment at Evergreen continues to surge ahead year over year with 13% more students at the college spring 2025,” said Chief Enrollment Officer John Reed in remarks included in the the release.

Evergreen’s fall-to-spring retention rate for first-time, first-year students showed steady improvement. The retention rate had a 17 percent difference over five years, with an increase to 85% in 2024 from 68% in 2020.

Preliminary data showed that the number of first-generation undergraduate students enrolled this spring reached 459, up from 371 in the same period last year.

“An important component of this enrollment growth is the improvement we are seeing in our student retention. First-year students from fall 2024 to spring 2025 are persisting at a rate of 85%, the highest we have seen in 12 years,” Reed added.

That trend is driven by the college’s efforts to support student success through personalized advising, flexible academic pathways, and community-building programs.

A more interesting article would be on where TESC enrollment is over time. I looked up to total enrollment and it is pretty low. For all that infrastructure of a state college, and only around 2200 students. The high was 4119 in 2009.. they should have at least 5000. It’s a waste of buildings and the gym, etc. to not use it more.
