Take part in the Salmon Experience at Bayshore Preserve

Posted

To nature enthusiasts and salmon aficionados, join the Capitol Land Trust (CLT) and Puget Sound Estuarium at the Bayshore Preserve to witness the migration of thousands of chum salmon making their annual return to John’s Creek.

The Bayshore Preserve serves as the habitat where the lives of these chum salmon began and the place where they return.

Here, they engage in the act of spawning, marking the transition from one generation of salmon to the next.

To experience and provide insight into the behavior of these salmon, salmon docents and underwater cameras will be stationed at the Bayshore Preserve on select dates in November.

Visitors can engage with experts and have their questions about salmon behavior and the ongoing habitat restoration efforts at Bayshore Preserve answered.

Here are the dates for the Salmon Experience:

  1. Saturday, November 4, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Head to the Shelton Timberland Library for a kids' activity and the chance to win prizes.
  2. Sunday, November 5, 12:30 p.m.: Meet at the kiosk to join the Bayshore Preserve Restoration Tour and explore the preservation efforts.
  3. Friday, November 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Another opportunity for kids' activities and prizes at the Shelton Timberland Library.
  4. Friday, November 10, 10:30 a.m.: Join the Bayshore Preserve Restoration Tour for an educational experience.
