A 39-year-old Tacoma man was arrested on Tuesday April 11, after drugs were allegedly found in the stolen vehicle that he was driving.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that a deputy ran the plate of the suspect’s vehicle after noticing it was swerving and moving as slow as 40 mph on I-5 near 93rd Avenue SW. The deputy’s search showed that the vehicle was listed as stolen out of Thurston County.

The deputy and Tumwater police stopped the vehicle. During the stop, the deputy saw drugs inside the vehicle “in plain view,” the TCSO said.

Fentanyl pills and powder and methamphetamine were found during the arrest.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and found fentanyl pills and powder, methamphetamine, a scale, and cash inside.

The driver was booked into the Thurston County Jail for Driving Under the Influence and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.
