Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies arrested a man for allegedly throwing rocks at motorists and injuring one.

On Saturday, January 27, Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies, led by Sheriff Derek Sanders, responded to a road incident on Bald Hills Road, which TCSO reported in their social media post.

Dispatch reported that several motorists called in to ask for assistance after a male was allegedly hurling large rocks from his truck at passing cars.

When the driver of one of the vehicles targeted by rocks thrown by the suspect attempted to record the license plate, the suspect attempted to break into the alleged victim's car. During the incident, the driver claims the suspect struck them with a rock, causing a head injury.

Deputies, assisted by officers from the Yelm Police Department, converged on the scene, finding the truck and found the suspect hiding in the nearby woods. “The male surrendered and was ordered out at gunpoint,” TCSO reported.

The arrested individual now faces charges of felony property damage and felony assault.

Meanwhile, the victim is receiving medical attention for the injuries sustained during the altercation.
