Suspect arrested after Legos theft from Lacey Target store

Lacey Police Department (LPD) responded to a theft incident at Target on 665 Sleater Kinney Road SE on the morning of April 26.

An employee reported a man, identified as Gary Bergeson, who had previously been trespassed from the store multiple times, leaving with stolen Legos.

“Gary (the suspect) then proceeded to bypass all points of sale never once offering to pay for the box of Legos he was carrying. Gary then exits Target,” the Target employee stated.

Bergeson was observed exiting the store without paying for the merchandise and was later spotted at a nearby bus stop with a new box of Legos.

Upon police arrival, Bergeson was detained without incident at the bus stop near Carl's Jr on Pacific Avenue SE.

The responding officers discovered that Bergeson had been arrested by Olympia Police Department (OPD) earlier in the day and transported him to Nisqually Jail but was denied at the facility.

The suspect told OPD of a medical issue on his leg and was then brought to St. Peter Hospital.

“It appeared that Bergeson had gone to Target after being transported to St Peter Hospital,” Lacey Police Department stated.

Due to the suspect’s medical concern about his leg, he was transported to Multicare for medical clearance before being booked into Thurston County Jail for second-degree burglary.

The stolen Legos were worth $69.99 and were recovered by Target.
