State Avenue NE and Capitol Way N street closures tonight, water turning off

Posted

Expect closures on State Avenue NE just before Capitol Way and two of Capitol Way’s lanes, including the left turn lane, in Olympia tonight, June 21, from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. tomorrow morning.

According to the city’s press release, crews will be working on a water valve at the intersection of State Avenue NE and Capitol Way N. Water service will be shut off from 11 p.m. tonight until 5 p.m. tomorrow.

“Affected customers were notified last week with door hangers,” said the city.

Olympia also noted that during the morning hours of June 22, water customers could experience air in the water line and/or water decolorization, caused by sediment, which the city reassures is normal.

“If this happens, customers should run their water until it is completely clear,” said Olympia in its release. “It is important to clear the water line so that discoloration does not occur when washing clothes, especially whites.”

Olympia added that the water is safe to use during these times.

Questions and concerns can be sent to Drinking Water Operations Lead Worker Dave Norton at the Public Works Department, through 360-507-5933 or dnorton@ci.olympia.wa.us.
