Lacey Law Enforcement Officers & Fire Fighters (LEOFF) Disability Board member Sean Smith recently received the city's Public Service Award.

Smith has been part of the LEOFF Disability Board since 2011.

Councilmember Lenny Greenstein described Smith as an incredible contributor who always has something to add to conversations and is always prepared at every meeting.

Lacey Mayor Andy Ryder said Smith might be the longest-serving public official in Lacey besides himself.

Ryder added that Smith has always ensured that "the people who have worked for Lacey are being taken care of."

"I didn't expect this," said Smith. "A thank you would've been enough."

Smith is part of the five-member LEOFF Disability Board which administers the LEOFF I benefits and entitlements. Smith's sixth term ended on the last day of May.

Other board members include Councilmember Michael Steadman, Greenstein, and police representatives Bob Cecil and Ed Sorger.
