A nighttime road striping process is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6, and Sunday, Sept. 7, across the City of Tumwater.
The striping process is a continuation of work that took place on Saturday, Aug. 23, and Sunday, Aug. 24.
The work includes painting new center lines, edge lines and bike lanes on streets citywide. The next round of the striping process is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sept. 6 and Sept. 7. The schedule can be altered by inclimate weather.
Access to residences and businesses will be maintained, but motorists may experience minor delays where the painting is taking place," said the City of Tumwater in announcing the project.
"Where possible, residents are asked to move vehicles, basketball hoops, and other personal property off the street overnight to streamline the striping process."
Motorists are urged to use caution when coming across the striping process.
"Road striping is a moving operation, drivers should watch for flashing amber lights, vehicles with message boards indicating “Caution: Wet Paint,” and fresh-looking paint on the roadway. On some roads, striping crews will use escort vehicles behind the striping truck," the City of Tumwater said.
Motorists can prevent damage and avoid getting paint on their vehicles by following these tips and proceeding with caution through work zones.
• Do not drive across newly painted markings.
• Do not pass paint striping vehicles.
• Do not follow the painting vehicles too closely.
"Drivers should rinse or apply water as soon as possible after getting road stripe paint on any vehicle," the City of Tumwater said.
