The voter registration deadline is less than a week away for certain registrations and updates for the April 22 special election in the City of Tumwater.

The Thurston County Auditor's Office said that the deadline for some would-be voters to register is Monday, April 14.

"Last day for remote registrations and updates to existing registrations online at VoteWA.gov, by mail, or at voter registration drives, etc," the Auditor's Office said in an announcement on Monday, April 7.

"Must be received by an election official by close of business."

Would-be voters may also register or update their registration in-person until 8 p.m. on April 22 at the Thurston County Auditor's Election Division.

The Election Division is located at 2915 29th Ave. SW in Tumwater. People may also register at a voting center.

Registered voters will have the opportunity to decide whether to renew the 0.2 percent Transportation Benefit District (TBD) sales tax.

"In 2015, Tumwater voters approved the 10-year collection of sales tax to preserve and maintain the transportation infrastructure within city limits," the City of Tumwater said in a campaign advertisement mailed to voters.

"The ballot measure is the renewal of the current 0.2 percent portion of sales tax used to fund the TBD. The TBD will not affect property taxes in the City of Tumwater. Renewal of the TBD, if approved, will not change the current sales tax rate."
