Regional Athletic Complex electric vehicle chargers back online after weeklong outage

Posted

A nearby accident left the Regional Athletic Complex (RAC) without electric vehicle charging for nearly a week.

But all six ChargePoint stations are back online as of Friday, April 24.

The JOLT first learned of the outage from a local resident. The resident, a regular user of the RAC chargers, reported that all six stations had gone offline and expressed urgency in having them restored. He noted that he relies on the chargers three times a week.

Lacey interim Communications Manager Donna Feliciano addressed the matter on Monday, April 27, confirming the power disruption was caused by a nearby accident.

She said the vendor manually restarted each unit following the restoration of power, a standard precaution taken to protect the equipment before returning the stations to operation.

The city, Feliciano noted, acknowledged the inconvenience and the role the chargers play in the daily lives of residents.

"We understand the importance of charger reliability for users and will continue to monitor the stations to help ensure consistent service," she said.

Should a station appear offline or out of service in the future, the city advises residents to contact the vendor via the support number found on each charging station.
