Every so often, most people crave a good chocolate brownie. My mother-in-law is a fantastic home cook and baker.
She is famous in our family for her incomparable brownies. They are her signature treat. She provided these for all family holidays, events and get-togethers. She recently shared her recipe with me.
On Saturday, I made the recipe, and here it is! I think you will be pleased with the results. (Let me know how they turn out.)
1 cup of flour
5 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups of light brown sugar
1/4 of a pound of butter
2 eggs lightly beaten
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Chopped nuts, optional
Frosting, optional
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Grease an 8 inch x 8 inch square baking pan.
Soften the butter and cream it with the brown sugar until well mixed. Add the eggs and vanilla, and incorporate them into the butter mixture.
Separately, in a large bowl, mix the flour and cocoa powder together.
Add the butter and sugar mixture to the flour mixture. Combine until the ingredients are well mixed.
Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan, and bake in the oven for about 45 minutes, until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool for a few minutes before serving.
Enjoy!
