Puget Sound Energy partners with Lacey for rebate program

Puget Sound Energy has entered into a partnership with the City of Lacey’s 2025 Matching Rebate Program to expand incentives for homeowners replacing natural gas heating systems with electric heat pump units.

The city announced on Friday, Oct. 17, it is pairing Puget Sound Energy's (PSE) $4,000 Fuel Switching Heat Pump rebate with a $4,000 match for income-qualified households under its Climate Action Plan.

According to the city, the Energy Efficiency Rebate Matching Program limits eligibility to single-family PSE natural gas customers using a gas-forced air furnace, boiler or gas wall heater as the main heating system. Multifamily dwellings of five or more detached units, new single-family construction and commercial accounts do not qualify.

Homeowners file one application through PSE’s digital portal.

“There is no additional application for the Lacey match; the matching rebate will be automatically applied to customers who meet the requirements,” saidd the city on a web page about the issue.

To apply, a homeowner must live within Lacey’s boundary, finish retrofit work by Friday, Dec. 12, and file the PSE rebate application by Friday, Dec. 19.

Households that meet income and system standards may qualify for the full $8,000 rebate — half from PSE and half from Lacey — through the Fuel Switching Heat Pump Program.
