Port of Olympia’s Work Sessions and regular meetings are now aired on Thurston County Community Media TCTV.

Port Executive Director Sam Gibboney announced during the Port’s March 28 Commission Meeting that the airings started on March 24 with the Port’s Work Session held that day, according to the Port’s recording of their meeting on their YouTube channel.

Meetings can be seen:

  • Every Friday at 3:30 p.m. on Comcast Channel 3
  • Sundays at 9 p.m. on Consolidated Cable in the Yelm area
  • Sundays at 9 p.m. on Comcast Channel 26

“I want to acknowledge that the Port does listen to the public and tries to be open and responsive as possible,” remarked Commissioner Joe Downing.

In a previous meeting, representatives from TCTV asked the Port during the comments section to have their meeting broadcast to allow the public to be informed of the Port’s activities.

The Port also posts recordings of its meetings on the its YouTube channel.

They used to be on cable and easy to access. Tell me why it made sense to eliminate that coverage? Coverage of local events and meetings used to be a selling point of cable. I know you can find it on the internet and that is good. but it is far easier access on cable for people of “a certain age”. Public meetings of public agencies should be available in as many media to as many people as possible.
