Olympia to paint road markings this weekend

Olympia is warning motorists that it will be refreshing its road markings on the following two weekends, July 22 to 23 and July 29 to 30.

“This project will cause traffic delays, and we appreciate your patience,” the city said in its press release.

Olympia also offered motorists some guidelines to follow if they encounter city crews working on the road striping:

• Stay behind the paint truck or trail vehicle. Do not pass.
• Never change lanes behind the striping truck or trail vehicles.
• Do not drive across lines marked with orange traffic cones.
• If parked on the street, wait at least 5 minutes before driving on the painted areas.
• If you get striping paint on your vehicle, rinse it off with water immediately.

Concerned community members may visit the city’s Striping Project website for more information and to follow the live striping map as it goes along.

“This work is weather dependent,” the city added, “and dates are subject to change.”
