The Olympia School District is going to migrate to a new educational management system in July.
The new platform, Skyward Qmlativ, is the latest version of Skyward’s Educational Management System, which OSD utilizes for grading, attendance, transcripts, payroll, staffing, lunch services and various programs.
The move aims to enhance functionality across the district’s key areas of student information, payroll, finance and human resources.
The move is also urged by a cooperative of school districts, Washington School Information Processing Cooperative (WSIPC), of which OSD is a member.
The cooperative is transitioning its member districts to the new educational management systems.
“This transition presents a significant undertaking for our district. For over a year, numerous district departments (including the Business Office, Student Information, and Human Resources) have been involved in the planning and implementation stages. This includes meticulous migration planning, data refinement, and training planning,” OSD’s website states.
Qmlativ features new advanced search options, shortcuts and personalization, such as customized live tiles and charts.
The latest version also shows elaborate, cutting-edge reporting for easier data analysis and sharing.
Qmlativ’s help center has easy-to-use search options and resources, including training videos, tutorials and interactive flowcharts.
All district staff will be trained before the 2025-26 school year starts.
OSD stated in a news release that migration will be a work in progress, and constituents will be updated with timeline updates as the school year progresses.
“Like any major technology upgrade, there will be challenges along the way. We greatly appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work through these initial hurdles,” the news release states.
