Olympia residents invited to share priorities at forum

Posted

The Council of Neighborhood Associations (CNA) is inviting Olympia residents to a community forum to discuss neighborhood needs and priorities for 2027 on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Olympia City Hall.

According to CNA Communications Coordinator Daniel Garcia, the forum aims to bring neighbors together to share ideas, foster connections, and identify ways to improve their communities.

CNA represents neighborhood associations across Olympia. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life in local neighborhoods by providing opportunities for residents to collaborate and work toward common goals.

The event will include connecting with neighbors and exchanging ideas. Organizers will collect feedback, share findings with the City of Olympia, and continue advocating for the priorities raised by residents.

Residents who cannot attend in person can participate through an online survey, which asks about community needs, potential projects, and opportunities to stay involved in neighborhood activities.

The survey deadline is Monday, Nov. 9, at 11:59 p.m.

Neighborhood matching grants

Residents can also explore the city's Neighborhood Matching Grant program, which provides funding for projects that strengthen neighborhoods, benefit the environment, encourage community involvement, and serve the community.

Grants range from $500 to $5,000 and cover up to 50 percent of project costs. Neighborhood groups provide the remaining match through money, donated materials, or volunteer time.

Past projects have included walking maps, street banners, garden and park improvements, festival materials, and neighborhood signage.

In 2026, the city expanded the program to allow informal neighborhood groups to access funding for small projects or activities that help them prepare to operate as a recognized neighborhood association.

CNA encourages residents to participate in the forum or complete the survey to help shape neighborhood priorities for 2027 and beyond.
