Olympia police asks public for information on homicide suspect

The Olympia Police Department (OPD) is on the hunt for a homicide suspect who allegedly shot a victim who succumbed to his wound and passed away. 

According to an OPD post, the incident happened in the area of Percival Creek on July 20. 

OPD detectives are now investigating the crime and have identified as a suspect 43-year-old Steven L. Messex, whose photo is shown above. 

The suspect is described as a white male who stands at 5’9” and weighs 160 lbs., has brown hair, and blue eyes. 

The suspect also has a gargoyle tattoo on his right arm, a barbed wire tattoo on his left arm, and a Popeye tattoo on his left forearm. 

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident and the suspect's whereabouts to call 911. 

“Messex should be considered armed and dangerous,” OPD warned the public.
