Olympia man caught allegedly stealing copper wiring from a construction site

A Lacey police officer caught on video a man allegedly stealing wires from a house under construction on Stephanie Loop.

The suspect, Andrew H. Bouret, 41, was arrested on Wednesday, June 22 after reports of suspicious activity on the 3100 block of Stephanie Loop NE.

The responding officer said he saw a flashlight inside the garage and heard drilling when he arrived at the scene at approximately 4:50 a.m. He also saw a man, later identified as Bouret, “actively attempting to remove the copper wiring from the breaker box located in the garage.”

“The male was focused on removing the wiring and I was able to capture of video of him actively attempting to remove the wiring,” the officer wrote in his report. See video with this story.

Police approached the suspect and detained him without incident. Bouret declined to speak to an officer.

Authorities recovered from the scene multiple tools including a reciprocating saw, a power drill, shears, screw drivers, and pliers.

Police also noted that Bouret appeared to have entered the structure through a window because one of the windows was damaged.

Bouret was booked into the Thurston County Jail for second-degree burglary, second-degree malicious mischief, and an unrelated warrant for third-degree driving with a suspended license.
