Olympia and Lacey are looking for community members who will fill vacant posts on both cities’ advisory boards.

Cultural Access Advisory Board vacancies

Olympia is currently seeking permanent members for its Cultural Access Advisory Board, which is currently filled with ad hoc members from the Inspire Olympia program.

In its press release, the city asked the following questions to find community members who may be interested in serving on the board:

  • Are you interested in the long-term growth and evolution of Olympia’s creative culture?
  • Do you believe that hands-on learning experiences in heritage, culture, the arts, sciences and technology can change lives?
  • Do you want to explore how grants to cultural programs can enhance equity, community, and belonging?
  • Could you offer much-needed perspective and lived experience from under-represented groups in our community?

Community members selected by the city council would be seated by April of next year and will serve for a three-year term. Applications are open until Saturday, January 14, and are available at the city’s website.

Lacey committees

Meanwhile, Lacey is recruiting community members who will serve on its Board of Park Commissioners and its Historical Commission.

The city has two vacancies in its Board of Park Commissioners and one open seat in its Historical Commission.

According to the city, the Board of Park Commissioners provides recommendations to the Lacey City Council and City staff regarding planning, acquisition, construction, development, maintenance, and operation of public recreation facilities and programs.

The Historical Commission, on the other hand, provides recommendations to the Lacey City Council and City staff on the creation of public education and interpretive programs, encourages conversation of items and properties that are of historic significance, reviews nominations to the Lacey Register of Historic Places, and provides leadership in raising awareness of Lacey’s history and preservation of local historic resources.

Interested community members can apply online until Tuesday, January 31. A letter of interest and resume are needed.
