North Thurston Public Schools (NTPS) celebrated the groundbreaking for the Lacey Education and Family (LEAF) Center on Monday, March 30.
The center, which is located on the corner of Marvin and Steilacoom roads near Nisqually Middle School, is scheduled to open in fall 2027.
NTPS said the location is going to serve up to 600 students annually with high-quality indoor and outdoor preschool spaces, and offer family-friendly spaces for parenting classes and community health and wellness support.
“Working with community partners, we are exploring future additions, such as a splash pad, library space, indoor recreation, and creative play spaces, to support family-based physical activity,” said NTPS on its website.
The project is funded by the 2024 Capital Levy for Safety, Technology, and Facilities Improvement. The construction of the center is part of the district’s modernization initiatives.
