NTPS seeking applications for Director District 3 position

Posted

The North Thurston Public Schools (NTPS) Director District 3 position is now open following the resignation of NTPS Board Vice President Dr. Jennifer Thomas, effective July 31, 2024.

Thomas was appointed Director of District 3 in March 2021 and elected to the same position in 2022.

“While I need to step away from the Board to focus on my family and professional obligations, Thomas stated, “I am thankful to have served this community and appreciate the support of Superintendent Oliver, his Cabinet, and the NTPS staff,”

Thomas, a mother of five—four of whom are current NTPS students and one a college student—has played a key role during the COVID-19 pandemic and has led initiatives to support military families.

“Jennifer has helped lead our district through both exciting and challenging times,” said Board President Gretchen Maliska. “The Board benefitted from her thoughtful perspective as a parent, a business owner, a military spouse, and a health care professional. We thank her for her many contributions to NTPS.”

“My children will continue to benefit from the high-quality educational opportunities our district provides,” Thomas said.

The NTPS Board is now accepting applications for the open position. The appointee will serve until the next election in November 2025.

Information on the open position and the application process is available on the NTPS website.
