The Leonor R. Fuller Gallery announced in a press release that it is set to host the Emerging Curator Exhibition, 21st Century PoP, curated by China Faith Star.
The exhibition runs from Feb. 24 to March 28, with an opening reception on Friday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m.
The exhibition’s guest emerging curator, China Faith Star, is an Olympia resident who “highlights regional artists working in the context of 21st-century Pop Art.”
“With irony no longer being the main message in contemporary art, it is absorbed instead with a new Pop that is more soul-searching and universal,” the press release stated.
Contemporary Pop artists, their methods of interpretation, art production, and their stylistic and medium choices are as diverse within the movement as the movement itself, and are distinctly other than its contemporary styles, according to the release.

Guest Curator and Olympia resident China Faith Star’s artwork and performance were exhibited in approximately 100 solo exhibitions and several group exhibitions nationwide and internationally.
“She is dedicated to bringing beauty and inspiration to the world through her own series of work as an artist which is broad beyond medium limits but threaded together with a focus on evolutionary consciousness and experiential joy,” the press release stated.
Star is the founder and lead curator of the Contemporary and Transmodern Arts Gallery (CaTMA), and the curator and gallery coordinator at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts.
As written in the release, Star is dedicated to helping artists succeed in their careers by offering immersive exhibitions, guest curation, consignment and council as a seasoned curator and gallerist.
