Lacey Youth Council accepting applications, ongoing until June 30

Posted

Lacey is now accepting applications for its Lacey Youth Council (LYC) from students who will be sophomores, juniors, or seniors in the 2024-25 school year.

Applying students must be attending North Thurston Public Schools, private schools in Lacey, or are home-schooled in the Lacey area.

The application period is ongoing and will close on Sunday, June 30.

Established in 2019, the LYC is recognized as an advisory board to the City Council, aiming to cultivate future leaders by engaging the youth in community activities and offering leadership opportunities.

The council meets twice a month during the school year and reports to the City Council monthly.

Members of the LYC will gain insights into local government, provide feedback on various city issues, and participate in community projects.

LYC members will earn community service hours or a stipend of $50 per meeting, up to $500 annually.

For more information and to apply for the LYC, visit the Lacey Youth Council webpage.
