Families, fitness enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers have a fresh lineup of activities to look forward to, as Lacey Parks, Culture & Recreation opened its spring registration on March 5.

According to the city, it caters programs to youths, adults and seniors looking to stay active or explore new hobbies this spring.

The city’s catalog includes options for those seeking athletic training, hands-on learning or outdoor excursions.

Spring activities

Among the most anticipated programs is the Gymnastics Spring Break Camp designed for children ages 6 to 12.

The program will run from March 31 to April 4 at Black Hills Gym, and will operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each weekday.

The program blends gymnastics instruction with crafts, games and group activities. The cost of enrollment is $290 per participant.

Another option for families is the Spring Break Day Camp. The program provides structured supervision with games, art projects and performance activities.

The camp runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Mountain View Elementary School. Registration costs $190 per child for the full week.

Meanwhile, adults who are on the lookout for outdoor excursions can sign up for Spring Hike to Rattlesnake Ledge on June 1.

The 4-mile roundtrip hike climbs 1,160 feet that leads to panoramic views of Cedar River watershed and Chester Morse Lake.

The hike departs at 7 a.m. and returns at 5 p.m. It has a registration fee of $60 per participant.

Lacey Spring Fun Fair

The annual Lacey Spring Fun Fair will feature two days of rides, live entertainment and community activities.

The city announced that the free-admission and free-parking celebration will be available at Saint Martin’s University on May 17 and 18.

This year's theme is Farm Life. The fair will include pony rides and interactive agricultural displays.

The S.T.E.A.M. Fair, launched last year as a STEM event, will return with an expanded focus on science, technology, engineering, arts and math. The cevent will feature interactive booths and activities for all ages.

The city also confirms more than 70 vendors will participate in the event, with artisan goods, handmade crafts and commercial products. The full lineup will be announced in coming weeks.

Another event, a Car Show, is organized by River Ridge High School Band Boosters. The show is scheduled for May 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will feature classic, vintage and custom vehicles.

Why would you pay 60 bucks to go on a free hike? Is it being catered with breakfast and lunch?
