Lacey Museum to hold an all-ages scavenger hunt

Posted

Looking for a kid-friendly scavenger hunt? The Great Lacey Adventure will take off on July 19, with exclusive medals, patches and stickers in store for the earliest finishers.

Smartphones will be utilized to navigate clues, complete missions and race to checkpoints.

Preregistration is required. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to register as teams of up to six people.

There is a $10 fee per person, which will be waived for children ages 5 and under.

Route

The fun kicks off at 10 a.m. at Lacey City Hall Community Room, where instructions and event rules will be disseminated.

“Get ready to navigate using your smartphone, as we guide you on how to enter coordinates on Google or Apple Maps like a pro!” the city stated on the event's website.

Each participating individual or team will receive a mission packet with everything they need to embark on their journey.

Upon finishing four missions, it’s time to head to the first checkpoint. Here, friendly staff will review photos and stamp the participants’ mission cards to mark their progress.

After every four missions, participants are told to make their way to the other designated checkpoints in sequence, culminating at the grand finale back at Lacey City Hall.

The organizing team will record the final time and present participants with the official stamp of completion.

The first 10 finishers will receive an event-exclusive medal, a patch and sticker.

Reminders

Participants are requested to prioritize safety and wear sun protection. Staying hydrated will also be helpful, as the coordinates are at outdoor locations.

Transportation is not provided, and personal vehicles are needed to travel the distance between locations.

Light refreshments will be provided to participants.

After the event, there will be an opportunity to share stories, swap strategies and discuss the routes people took.

Editor's note: The headline has been updated to reflect the scavenger hunt is for people of all ages.
