Lacey man dies of gun shot in parking lot; suspect arrested for murder

A 42-year-old Lacey man was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after being found with a gunshot wound in a parking lot over the weekend.

In a post online, the Lacey police statement describes the incident as “Traffic-related disturbance results in one dead and one in custody for Murder 2nd Degree in Lacey.”

The Lacey Police Department said officers and medics were dispatched to a traffic-related disturbance in the 2500 block of Marvin Road NE in Lacey on Saturday, April 22, at around 6:12 p.m. The incident involved a male with a gunshot wound who was found in the parking lot.

The man, a Lacey resident, was brought to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 48-year-old Thurston County male was arrested and booked into the Thurston County Jail after authorities established probable cause for second-degree murder.

Lacey police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

    The person who died after being shot Saturday evening in Lacey has been identified by the Thurston County coroner as 42-year-old Shawn Jemtegaard.
