Lacey Assistant City Manager Shannon Kelley-Fong has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Municipal Research and Services Center (MRSC), a nonprofit organization that provides legal and policy guidance to local governments throughout Washington.
MRSC has supported local governments for more than 90 years. The organization was established in 1934 as the University of Washington Bureau of Governmental Research and became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1969.
City Manager Rick Walk confirmed the appointment of Kelley-Fong in a written statement on Thursday, July 9.
"Her collaborative leadership style and thoughtful, data-informed approach to problem-solving make her an outstanding addition to the MRSC (board)," Walk said. "As a city, we're committed to developing leaders who not only serve our community well but also help strengthen local government across the state. Shannon's appointment is a testament to that commitment."
Walk added that Kelley-Fong has led organizational initiatives and strategic planning projects for the city, and has strengthened community partnerships during her tenure.
"We're proud to see her represent Lacey and communities throughout Washington in this important role," Walk said. "We are grateful Lacey will have a voice in conversations that help shape effective, innovative local government across Washington."
MRSC's mission is to help local governments in Washington better serve their communities by providing legal and policy guidance on a range of topics. The organization also offers research, training and educational services to local governments statewide.
