K9 tracks and catches felony suspect after foot chase

K9 Igo helped the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies arrest a felony suspect.

On the night of February 29, TCSO was engaged in a pursuit of a fleeing suspect following a failed traffic stop, according to their news release.

A deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle, only to lose sight of it shortly afterward.

TSCO continued to look for the vehicle, and when they were able to relocate it, they found out that the driver had abandoned it and fled on foot.

We were able to identify the driver, and he had a felony warrant and was known to be violent,” TCSO reported.

Law enforcement sought the assistance of their K9 unit, and K9 Igo was deployed to the scene to aid in tracking down the suspect.

Despite the suspect having a one-hour head start, K9 Igo quickly picked up the trail.

For another hour, K9 Igo tracked down the suspect, and deputies repeatedly warned the suspect to surrender, but the suspect continued hiding.

The suspect refused to surrender, and K9 Igo made contact with the suspect hiding in the bushes”, TCSO stated.

The suspect was arrested by K9 Igo’s handler and other deputies without further incident.
