After seven years of absence, the Jinglebell Parade is coming back to downtown Olympia, complete with holiday floats, lights and marching bands.
The parade will be held on Sunday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m., beginning at Cherry Street and continuing through the streets of downtown before a tree lighting ceremony at Sylvester Park.
“The Olympia Downtown Alliance couldn’t be more excited to welcome back the magic, music, and community spirit that made it a cherished local tradition!” said the Olympia Downtown Alliance on its website.
The throwing of any materials along the parade route is prohibited. Political messages, advertising or campaigning are also not allowed at the event.
The Olympia Downtown Alliance will have a Santa for the parade; people are asked to not participate as another Santa.
“We’re creating a festive celebration that showcases the true heart of Olympia. Whether you're a local business, cultural group, dance crew, youth team, or band of creative holiday lovers, we want your group in the lineup,” said the alliance on its website.
Registration for the parade closes Monday, Nov. 9.
