Posted

Intercity Transit, alongside partner agencies, celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Bus Buddy program at the Olympia Transit Center last Saturday, March 16.

The Bus Buddy program has assisted individuals seeking a helping hand while navigating the bus system.

Offering free, one-on-one support, dedicated volunteers share their expertise in bus riding and delivering customer service to riders.

From parents needing assistance with their children’s school transportation to exchange students exploring the town, the program caters to diverse customers.

It extends its services to individuals requiring aid for grocery runs, appointments or those who cannot drive, emphasizing inclusivity regardless of age or ability.

The celebration featured esteemed speakers representing the program's partner agencies, including Intercity Transit, Catholic Community Services, and the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Former and current program staff, alongside a Bus Buddy user, took the stage to share their unforgettable experiences while on the program.

Statistics showcased during the event highlighted the program's effectiveness, with 958 client matches completed, 269 event appearances, and 109 speaking engagements in the past six years alone.
