Intercity Transit Authority board names three finalists for General Manager

The Intercity Transit Authority (ITA) Board recently revealed the three finalists in their search for the agency's new General Manager.

Chosen from a pool of nearly 100 applicants “from across the continent and around the world,” they are set to participate in a series of events and interviews in Olympia from October 25 to October 27.

Emily Bergkamp

Currently serving as the Interim General Manager at Intercity Transit, Emily has an extensive history with the organization, dating back to 2004. Over the years, she has held various key roles, including Vanpool Coordinator, Youth Education Specialist, Dial-A-Lift Manager, and Director of Operations.

Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Cultural Anthropology and a Master of Arts in Public Administration. She graduated from the Leadership American Public Transportation Association (APTA) program in 2013.

Jana Demas

Demas is the Deputy Director of Rail at King County Metro and has held this position since 2021. She has been an integral part of King County Metro since 2008, where she held several vital roles, such as Transportation Planner, Supervisor/Lead of Strategic Planning, and Managing Director of Employee Services.

Jana holds a Bachelor of Science degree in International Studies and Education and a master's degree in Urban Planning and Public Administration. She is a graduate of the Leadership APTA program, class of 2019.

Ryan Wheaton

Wheaton is the Executive Director of Planning and Community Development at Pierce Transit, a role he has filled since 2018. Before this, he held the position of City Manager at the City of Shelton and also worked as a Specialized Transportation Manager and Business Partnership Administrator at Pierce Transit.

Ryan's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and master's degrees in Education and Business Administration, focusing on Technology and Innovation. He completed the Leadership APTA program in 2021.

ITA anticipates making its final decision at an upcoming meeting before the year's end.
