The installation of new digital signage at the Olympia Transit Center is nearing completion, according to Intercity Transit.
The signs use e-paper technology to display real-time information on bus time arrivals to make public transit more convenient and reliable for riders.
Intercity Transit acquired 35 of the signs from Connectpoint Inc. for $559,884 in February 2025, and then contracted with Vector Electrical Group earlier this year for installation work.
To carry the project toward completion, Intercity Transit Authority granted a staff request on Aug. 19 to increase Vector Electrical’s contract amount to $554,167 from $509,167. The additional money will go toward approved changed orders and other future potential expenses.
Intercity Transit Construction Projects Coordinator Jeff Peterson told the authority there have been change orders to address previously unknown issues with the installation sites. The change orders allow crews to fill in discovered utilities, adjust concrete as needed and improve aesthetics.
There should be no more significant issues for the remainder of the project, Peterson said.
At the same meeting, Intercity Transit Authority renewed a contract with CW Janitorial Service for one year in the amount of $618,700.
The firm provides daily janitorial services and supplies across all Intercity Transit facilities. Its contract is renewed annually and has two more renewal years left on its term.

I know a number of people who do not have cell phones. This is not helpful to them.

@olyhiker - This sort of sign is specifically to help riders without the need for additional technology like a smart phone. Each bus bay has a digital sign that lists the routes arrival/departure time for buses. The kiosks display even more information. You do not need a cell phone to uses these signs.
