Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies and Thurston County Fire Department personnel responded to an incident at 5:30 in the early morning of January 19 at the Thurston County Jail, where an inmate was found dead, TCSO reported on their social media post.
After checking the inmate, the Fire Department personnel pronounced the inmate deceased.
Detectives took charge of the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the inmate's passing.
Authorities conducted an investigation, and preliminary findings from interviews with inmates and staff, along with a review of security footage, suggested that the inmate passed away while they were asleep that night.
Talia, a police K9, assisted in the search as a precaution, and authorities confirmed that no narcotics were found during the examination.
The investigation is ongoing, with detectives collaborating closely with the Thurston County Coroner's Office.
Information on the name of the deceased and the cause of death are not yet available as of this writing.
The Coroner's Office will be responsible for releasing the name of the deceased individual and providing details regarding the cause of death.
