A late night call to law enforcement led to a DUI arrest and a drug investigation after two men were discovered unconscious in a parked vehicle at a gas station in Thurston County.

Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies responded to a complaint around 9:47 p.m. on May 21 at Tri Lake Market on Yelm Highway SE.

According to a store employee, a 2011 brown BMW X3 had been parked at the gas pumps for several hours, and the individuals inside were refusing to leave. The employee also expressed concern about potential drug activity.

Deputies arrived to find the vehicle with two men inside, both appearing to be unconscious. The driver was later identified by authorities as Dandre Long, while the passenger is identified as Steven Webb.

Deputies noticed burnt tin foil and a lighter in the hand of the driver. They also noticed a glass smoking device commonly referred to as a “bong” in the center console area between Dandre and the passenger. A plastic smoking device commonly known as a “tooter”, was also seen underneath the driver’s seat,” the TCSO said in a report.

After waking the men and conducting a preliminary investigation, deputies arrested Long, while Webb was released for lack of probable cause.

However, after obtaining a search warrant to look inside the vehicle, deputies discovered a bag under Webb’s seat.

During the search of the vehicle, a small bag was located on the passenger side floorboard directly beneath where Steven was sitting. Inside the bag were two small bags of a white crystal-like substance, furthermore, multiple small empty bags and scales were located inside the bag, as well as digital scales,” a TCSO responding deputy stated in the a report.

Due to these findings, authorities attempted to locate Webb at his last known address but were unsuccessful.

Long was later booked into the Thurston County Jail. During the booking process, jail staff discovered a small bag containing a white powdery substance concealed on Long’s person.

Long will be charged for possession of drug paraphernalia, physical control and possession of controlled substance in correctional facility, while TCSO continues their efforts to locate Webb.
