Hands On Children’s Museum revives Boo Bash!

Celebrate fall as Hands On Children’s Museum (HOCM) brings back family-friendly thrills and spooky treats at its annual Boo Bash! this October 25-31.  

HOCM wrote on its event page that the “spine-tingling activities” begin at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.; the activities vary depending on the day of the week. See the online event calendar for dates and times.  

Special Boo Bash sensory-friendly activities for children with sensitivities and their families will also be available on October 27 during the regular Sensory Friendly Hour at 9-10 a.m.  

A sensory-friendly room is also available on Saturday from 1-4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. during Boo Bash. 

Online reservations are recommended—attendees save $1 per ticket bought online. 

Events 

Boo Bash! features kid-focused and family-friendly activities all week long. 

  • Explore the ecto-glow room with ghoulish graffiti, slippery and slimy sensations, monster puppets, and photoBOOth 
  • Make painted pumpkin prints 
  • Silkscreen a glow-in-the-dark boo bag! $9 plus tax. (T-shirts, onesies, aprons, and more for $15 each plus tax) 
  • Hunt for fossils and gems at the Haunted Sluice ($6-10 plus tax) 
  • Stroll the straw bale maze and take farm-stand photos 
  • Practice pounding by decorating pumpkins with golf tees 
  • Press apples into cider and grind grains with Farmer Flower (weekend only) 
  • Watch exciting Dr. Science demos (weekend only) 
  • Scavenger hunt and enter to win a Play Day Café coupon (daily drawing with one winner per day) 
  • Airways Maze 
  • Chalk wall with boo-ti-ful designs 
  • Costume parade or dance party 

 Monster of Scare-Emonies Contest 

Boo Bash! also features the Monster of Scare-Emonies Contest, where a child will be selected to be the official Boo Bash Monster of Scare-Emonies on October 26!  

“As the Monster of Scare-Emonies, they will win a free family pass and VIP Boo Bash entry, have the opportunity to assist Dr. Science with an exciting experiment, lead the costume parade, and get a goodie bag with a $25 gift certificate to the Museum Store,” the event page stated. 

Joining the contest requires no purchase; each child is allowed only one entry. All entries should be submitted on or before October 16.

The winner will be announced on October 18, and the winner is required to be on-site to fulfill the Boo Bash Monster of Scare-Emonies duties. If the winner is unavailable, an alternate winner will be chosen.
