Free tax preparation services available until April 15

Posted

The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is now offering its annual free tax preparation services in Thurston County until April 15, 2025.

Trained and IRS-certified foundation volunteers will prepare and e-file federal tax returns at seven locations in Thurston County, and assist taxpayers in applying for the Washington Working Families Tax Credit.

“We welcome taxpayers of all ages and income levels unless your return is outside the scope of our training,” the foundation said in a press release.

A tax return is usually prepared in one visit, unless important tax documents or identification is lacking.

Appointment and scheduling

Interested individuals may book an appointment via phone, website or on-site. The appointment phone number is 360-347-6276.

Same-day walk-ins are only permitted if there are available appointment slots and there is at least one hour remaining before closing.

“If you leave a message on our appointment line, one of our volunteers will call you back within three business days. Your caller ID will show (617) 675-4444 when we call. Please add this number to your phone contacts under Tax-Aide,” the foundation said.

Before making an appointment, the foundation recommended the community to review the Pre-Appointment Packet to be familiar with the limits on the types of returns that can be prepared, and what documents must be brought.
