Free public tours of the Governor’s Mansion October 2, 9

Posted

On the next two Wednesdays, October 2 and 9, the Washington State’s Governor’s Mansion will once again offer free half-hour public tours with the theme “Washington apples.”

With its apple-centric theme, visitors have the chance to discover Washington apples, including a collection of vintage apple box labels on display from the Yakima Valley Museum. Tour slots are on a first-come, first-served basis, involve a tour of the mansion's rooms, and include a chance to view memorabilia and exhibits.

The mansion gallery showcases an oil painting titled "Wenatchee Apples," by E. L. Pierce Milholland, and the library features a book titled Willow Whoops, by Native American author Alexis Younglove Erickson.

A gallery exhibit will also take place, featuring works of Shoalwater Bay Tribe member Eugene Landry (1937-1988) and photographs by Toni Roth, a photographer and resident of the Yakama Indian Reservation in Toppenish.

Reservations required

To make reservations, complete an online mansion tour request form at least 24 hours in advance. Each tour can accommodate 30 guests

The mansion is located at 416 Sid Snyder Avenue SW, Olympia.
