A stout diet of wind and rain are on tap over the next 36 hours in Thurston County.
The National Weather Service Office in Seattle forecast calls for between three-quarters and 1 inch of rain on Tuesday evening, Dec. 9. The rain should be riding a south, southwest wind of 14 to 21 miles per hour (mph) with gusts as high as 34 mph.
Conditions should be equally tough on Wednesday, Dec. 10, with a 100 percent chance of rain and totals between one-half and three-quarters of an inch possible. A south, southwest wind of 18 to 23 mph with gusts as high as 36 mph is also in the forecast. The high should be near 58 degrees.
The low should dip to around 50 degrees overnight with a south, southwest wind of 13 to 20 mph and gusts up to 32 mph. There is a 100 percent chance of precipitation with accumulation totals between one-quarter and one-half inch possible.
A wind advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
“Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile (vehicle). Secure outdoor objects,” said the National Weather Service Office in the advisory, which was issued on Tuesday afternoon.
The forecast calls for a 90 percent chance of rain on Thursday, Dec. 11, with a high near 54 degrees and a southwest wind around 7 mph. Forecasts are subject to change.
