The National Weather Service (NWS) issued both Flood Watch and Winter Weather Advisories, including a forecast of two inches of snow that is in effect until Friday afternoon.

All areas of Thurston County  are included in the warnings.

Flood Watch

“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,   creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” the NWS warned in its Flood Watch alert.

The Chehalis River is expected to rise from the heavy rainfall over the last 24 hours today and Friday. The river is anticipated to crest at a minor flood stage.

NOAA advised precautions: “You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.”

Snow

The total accumulated snow is expected to reach two inches for portions of northwest and west central Washington. The snow is anticipated to fall at 9 p.m. and go until around noon Friday.

NOAA advises people to “Slow down and use caution while traveling.” And to expect to plan around slippery road conditions.
