Three law enforcement agencies collaborated to collar a felon crossing into Thurston County for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and other charges.

Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) responded to Napavine Police Department’s call for assistance (NPD) over a suspect one of their officers was pursuing into the county on I-5 and into Tumwater. TCSO took the lead as the suspect’s vehicle, upon entering the county, the vehicle was speeding at approximately 100 mph on Trosper Road.

According to TCSO’s press release on Sunday, April 14, the suspect made a U-turn at one and headed back to the I5 on Trosper Road.

Sheriff Derek Sanders and a Tumwater Police Department (TPD) unit deployed spikes on the vehicle, with a deputy making a PITT maneuver on the suspect’s vehicle on a roundabout to corner the suspect.

Law enforcement arrested the suspect without incident after he surrendered. TCSO also reported no damage to its patrol cars or the roundabout during the chase.

“The driver, a Tacoma man who is a convicted felon for robbery with a deadly weapon, had active warrants along the I5 corridor for multiple counts of theft, assault, and trespass,” TCSO reported. “He has been extradited back to Lewis County for new charges of DUI and attempting to elude a police vehicle.”
