Posted

After three games on the road, the lads of FC Olympia will return home on Wednesday just in time for the fast-approaching conclusion of this season’s USL League Two Northwest Division, having won one, lost one, and drawn one match on their road trip.

Jason Dunn’s boys will play their first home game in July and their first since hosting a 1-1 draw with West Seattle Junction FC on June 26th. With their return home on July 10th, they will face midtable Midlakes United in a 7 p.m. kickoff/ Their previous meeting, a fixture in Bellevue early in June, finished with an Artesian defeat.

Before Olympia’s team resumes home matches, there’s time to recap the last three fixtures the Artesians faced away from home.

The Artesians traveled to Salem, OR on June 28 and took down bottom-of-table Capital FC Atletico in a pulsating 2-1 win on Atletico’s home pitch. Lennard Fock shone again for the visiting FC Olympia, providing the winning goal and an assist in another man-of-the-match performance from the Seattle University forward.

Trailing a goal at the second half, Fock connected with a pass to fellow forward Chad Sovde to give the equalizing goal for the Artesians in the 75th minute, before Fock sealed the game with a clutch winning goal deep in the 90th minute. The Artesians celebrated their third win of the season at McCulloch Stadium in Salem.

Fock, who developed his youth soccer career mostly in his hometown of Apensen, Germany before moving to the United States, is vital for this FC Olympia side, as he now leads all goalscorers of the club with five goals to his name so far.

Jackson Ozburn was holding on to a shutout again in goal, holding the hosts at bay for most of the game until the 71st minute – when he conceded the lone Atletico goal from Storm Hollensted.

The game featured the annual Teddy Bear Toss by the Salem fans.

Fans tossed teddy bears onto the pitch on the first goal scored by Capital FC. Volunteers collect the toys and donate them to the children of the Liberty House Child Abuse Assessment Center in Salem.

Capital FC has held this tradition since 2017.

Artesians celebrations were cut short as the Olympians traveled to Lincoln High School in Portland, OR, and absorbed a 1-0 defeat at the hands of playoff challengers United PDX FC on Tuesday, July 2.

Isaiah Easley scored the lone goal of the match early in the ninth minute, and from that moment on, the Artesians had a hard time responding. When time expired, FC Olympia had suffered their fifth defeat in ten matches.

The defeat also virtually eliminated the Artesians' chances of clinching a playoff spot. They currently sit in sixth place with 11 points. With 20 and 23 points, they helped hand playoff spots to United PDX FC and defending USL2 champs Ballard FC.
