Tenino Quarry pool opens on June 21, coincides with Family Fun Day

The City of Tenino announced the Tenino Quarry Swimming Poolwill open for the summer season on Saturday, June 21.

The pool opening coincides with  Family Fun Day, which is free and open to the public.

Originally a working sandstone quarry in the late 1800s, the swimming pool is now a public, low-cost, family-friendly recreation spot. 

The pool is open from noon to 6 p.m. The Fun Day activities run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Tenino City Park. 

Youths ages 18 and under are admitted free of charge; adults have a paid entrance of $4 per person for Tenino residents and $6 per person for people who live outside the area. 

Family Fun Day 

Family Fun Day will feature various attractions, including live stage entertainment, family-friendly activities, exhibits, adoption events, and food and refreshments. 

Live entertainment includes Reptile Rescue, Library Story Time, Prairie Steppers and music by Bill Lenker. 

Fun Day also features family-friendly bounce houses, a petting zoo, a dunk tank and carnival games. 

There will also be engaging exhibits, such as a World War II encampment display and a display of model railroads. The Tenino Depot Museum will also be open for visitors. 

Attendees can look forward to a puppy adoption event, a reptile rescue display, a nonprofit and vendor fair, and a "Little Mermaid" photo opportunity. 

For food and refreshment options, a variety of food trucks, and treats will be available throughout the day. 

"We are excited for this year's Family Fun Day and all the activities we have arranged for families to participate in," said Jessica Reeves-Rush, City of Tenino Parks, Arts, Recreation and Culture Specialist, in a news release announcing the event.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, enjoy the beautiful Tenino City Park, and kick off the summer season with a splash at the Quarry (pool)," Reeves-Rush added.
