Elderly Olympia woman found dead at home; adopted son arrested

An 82-year-old Olympia woman was found dead inside her home, and her adopted son has been arrested in connection with her death, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) announced yesterday.

In a media release, TCSO said a woman’s relative visited her at her home on the 7100 block of Glen Annie Lane SW on Sept. 14 because she could not be contacted by phone.

She was found dead inside her residence. Sheriff’s deputies arrived shortly and confirmed that she died following “homicidal violence.”

An investigation led detectives to identify the woman’s adopted son as the suspect in her death.

The 30-year-old male suspect was arrested last night and booked into the Thurston County Jail for second-degree murder.

The TCSO said it was not yet naming the suspect since he has yet to be formally charged.

Community members with knowledge about the incident are urged to forward information to detectives@co.thurston.wa.us.
