Deadline for the second half of property tax payment on October 31

Posted

Thurston County residents are reminded that the deadline for paying the second half of their 2023 property taxes will be on Tuesday, October 31.

For the convenience of taxpayers, there are four payment options available.

Online: Payments can be made through the Thurston County Treasurer’s website. Notably, there is no additional charge for electronic check payments. However, a transaction fee of 2.35% is applied for major credit card payments, and a flat fee of $3.95 is charged for VISA debit cards.

Mail: Residents can send their payments by check or money order to the Thurston County Treasurer at 3000 Pacific Avenue SE, Olympia, WA 98501. Ensuring that payments mailed are postmarked no later than October 31, 2023 is essential.

Drop off: A secure outside drop box is available near the flagpoles at the Treasurer’s new office at 3000 Pacific Avenue SE, Olympia.

In-person: Payments can also be made at the Treasurer’s Office, which operates during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. Please note that a 2.35% transaction fee is applicable when paying by credit card and a flat fee of $3.95 for VISA debit card payments.

Payment on or before October 31 is highly encouraged, as late fees will be charged per Washington State law for those who fail to make their payments on time.

For any questions or assistance, the Treasurer’s staff is available by phone at (360) 786 5550 or email trsr@co.thurston.wa.us during business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Property owners also have the option to sign up for Paperless Property Tax Bills, enabling them to receive future property tax bills electronically, which helps save both paper and postage.

This service also offers the convenience of scheduling tax payments before the due date and sends email payment reminders beforehand.

To learn more about this service or to sign up, visit the Thurston County Treasurer’s website.
