Intersection construction at Sleater Kinney and 15th Ave NE

Thurston County Public Works is alerting the public about upcoming traffic delays at the intersection of Sleater Kinney Road NE and 15th Avenue NE, beginning Monday, July 15.

This marks the start of a project to create a new signalized intersection.

The work will include underground utility installation and widening the intersection to add accessibility ramps, turn lanes, and crosswalks.

The initial phase of construction is anticipated to last 4-6 weeks, with work occurring Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

To keep the public informed, reader boards will be placed along Sleater Kinney Road NE and 15th Avenue NE.

Fog sealing in Olympia

Starting Tuesday, July 16, the Olympia will begin fog sealing on the roadways where chips were applied earlier this week.

This process will seal the road surfaces and prepare them for the installation of permanent pavement markings.

The work is expected to continue through July 17, weather permitting.

Travelers should anticipate lane restrictions and possible traffic delays.

It is recommended that alternate routes be chosen if possible.

Flaggers will be present to guide motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists through the construction zones.

Access to driveways may be temporarily disrupted during the fog sealing process.

The affected streets are Harrison Avenue from Cooper Point Road to Division Street and Olympic Way from Harrison Avenue to the 4th/5th Avenue roundabout.

A traffic light at Sleater and 15th is really needed. North on 15th is the back way to the dump.

    15th runs east/west my guy.

    Sleater Kinney runs north/south.

I agree a light is needed there.
