Educational Service District 113 communications team honored

The Washington School Public Relations Association awarded the Educational Service District (ESD) 113 communications team with eight statewide awards.

ESD 113 is the regional agency that oversees Tumwater, Olympia and North Thurston school districts. 

The team received three Awards of Excellence, three Awards of Merit and two Honorable Mentions for their Communications Awards Program, the district announced in a press release on Wednesday, Oct. 29. 

One Award of Excellence was given to the team in the Communications, Public Relations or Marketing Campaign category, for the district’s “Behavior Supports in Schools Cooperative” Program. 

The team earned another excellence award in the Print Newsletter/Mailer category for the “Wildcat Roundup” project at McCleary School District. 

The third Award of Excellence was in the Special Purpose Publication category, which recognized the district’s “Strategic Plan for Expedition Behavioral Education at ESD 113.” 

The team earned an Award of Merit in the Branding/Image category for its  “Ground Control Coffee” Program for Gravity. 

Another merit award came in the Website category, while the third was in the Video: Informational category for “Construction Trades - Tumwater School District Pathways.” 

The team also received an Honorable Mention in the Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing Campaign category for its early learning program “Your Family Has Roots Here,” as well as an Honorable Mention for the “High School to Postsecondary Toolkit” at Chehalis School District and ESD 113 Career-Connected Learning. 

ESD 113 covers 44 school districts, one tribal compact school and accredited private schools in Thurston, Mason, Lewis, Grays Harbor and Pacific counties. 

“We define success by our clients’ results: increased community engagement, stronger trust with families, and clearer connections between schools and the people they serve,” the district’s press release stated.  

The communications team is composed of Kristen Jaudon, Liz Wuerffel, Kaitlyn Hall, Seley Nemish, Mishele Barnett and Kerri Tobin.
