Car chase ends with both driver's and passenger’s arrest

A routine traffic stop turned into a car chase on Interstate 5 Northbound near exit 105 on the night of February 28 after a Thurston County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) deputy attempted to halt a driver suspected of DUI due to erratic lane changes and fluctuating speeds.

In the news release, TCSO reported that the driver fled instead of complying with the stop, starting a chase along the highway.

The pursuit ended when the driver tried to take exit 107 but lost control, colliding with the curb, tearing the vehicle's rear tire and exhaust system and forcing the fleeing vehicle to come to a halt.

Responding deputies took both the driver and passenger into custody after it was verified that both individuals had active warrants for their arrest.

Upon searching the vehicle, deputies discovered drug paraphernalia.

In addition to the active warrants, the driver will be facing charges for DUI and attempting to elude law enforcement.
