The Thurston County Canvassing Board certified the results of the Feb. 10 Special Election, in which three local school districts received approval from voters for replacement levies.
The Thurston County Auditor's Office announced the certification of the special election resutls on Friday, Feb. 20.
Olympia School District No. 111 Proposition No. 1 received 11,710 “yes” votes or 68.78 percent, compared with 5,316 “no” votes or 31.22 percent, official results show.
The proposition, also known as the Technology, Safety & Facility Improvement Replacement Levy, is expected to raise an estimated $72.9 million over a four-year period (2027-30).
The money is earmarked for a number of necessities, including touch screen devices and Chromebook carts, Ingersoll Stadium improvements, HVAC control systems and classroom display systems.
Tenino School District No. 402 Proposition No. 1 received 1,281 “yes” votes or 52.65 percent, compared with 1,152 “no” votes or 47.35 percent, official results show.
The proposition, also known as Replacement Capital Levy to Improve Student Safety, Technology and Learning Environments, is expected to raise an estimated $15.29 million dollars over a six-year period (2027-32).
The money is earmarked for district-wide improvements, including the upgrading or modernizing Parkside Elementary School, Tenino Elementary School, Tenino Middle School and Tenino High School.
Tumwater School District No. 33 Proposition No. 1 received 5,844 “yes” votes or 59.39 percent, compared with 3,996 “no” votes or 40.61 percent, official results show.
The proposition, also known as Replacement Safety, Technology, and Capital Improvements Levy, is expected to raise an estimated $49.10 million over a six-year period (2027-32).
The money is earmarked for a number of items, including the replacement of safety, instructional and telecommunications equipment, as well as the improvement of facilities.
