Candidate filing week opens today for Thurston County Drainage districts and Black Lake Special District

Residents of Chambers Lake Drainage District, Hopkins Drainage District, Scott Lake Drainage District, and the Black Lake Special District are gearing up for candidate filing week, set to take place from today, December 11, to December 15.

During this period, eligible candidates can file for various commissioner positions in these Thurston County districts.

To qualify, candidates must be property owners within their respective districts and registered voters in Washington State.

The open commissioner positions subject to election include:

  • Chambers Lake Drainage District: Pos. No. 2 & 3
  • Hopkins Drainage District: Pos. No. 2
  • Scott Lake Drainage District: Pos. No. 1 & 3
  • Black Lake Special District: Pos. No. 3

There is no filing fee associated with these positions, allowing interested individuals to participate without financial barriers.

Filing by mail has already commenced, offering an early option for candidates to submit their paperwork.

Other filing methods, including email and in-person submissions, will open on December 11, running through December 15, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. sharp.

The Thurston County Auditor's Elections Office is accepting filings through email at elections@co.thurston.wa.us, in-person at the Auditor’s Elections Office located at 2400 Evergreen Park Dr SW, Olympia, WA 98502 and by mail to Thurston County Auditor’s Elections Office, 2000 Lakeridge Dr SW, Olympia, WA 98502.

All candidate filings must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 15, to ensure that the process remains fair and transparent for all participants.
