Bucoda man accused of strangling and assaulting woman on side of the road

A Bucoda man reported for assaulting a woman on the side of the road was later booked on multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from authorities and possessing narcotics.

Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Bucoda Sunday night after a man was reportedly seen strangling and assaulting a woman on the road, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The man fled on foot when deputies arrived, prompting containment efforts and the deployment of a K9 unit. Authorities established probable cause for second-degree assault, as well as violation of a no-contact order violation from an incident in Olympia the night before.

The K9, named Bowie, tracked the man to an unoccupied house. The man refused to come out and shut the door on Bowie when the dog tried to get inside. He then exited through the back and stole a bicycle from a nearby house, the Sheriff’s Office said on social media.

The man got on the bike but was chased by Bowie into the containment area, where deputies continued to pursue him on foot. He was taken into custody shortly after.

At the Thurston County Jail, corrections deputies found narcotics on the man.

He was booked for second-degree assault, third-degree theft, residential burglary, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of narcotics, and two counts of violation of a no-contact order.

If he's been arrested and put in jail, if he's over the age of 18, his name should be published. This isn't a case of a jay walker, or someone not feeding the parking meter. This man intended to **** and kill his victim, ran away (meaning he knew he was wrong), violated two no contact orders and stole private property. Protecting his identity is merely placating him. I know. I'm sure JOLT is using the same old stuff all criminals use: Mentally ill, addicted to something, homeless, misunderstood, bullied as a child, father not in the picture. My boot. What's his name so I can protect myself and my family.

As for the K9..way to go, Bowie! GOOD dog!
